This program gives you the knowledge and
skills to answer all three.
All in one program, you can:
• Train to become eligible to sit for the
American Council on Exercise (ACE) certification exam
• Learn to aid your clients with their
nutritional goals
• Gain specific and powerful tools to help
clients reduce the damaging effects of stress
And you will personally benefit from the
experiential course work as you learn and practice the skills
and techniques you will one day use with others.
Program Highlights
Module
One: Fitness Training
•
Learn to design individualized fitness programs utilizing
exercise machines, balls, bands, and free weights
• Learn to work with special populations,
from seniors to performance athletes.
• Learn to teach group exercise classes and
become certified through the YMCA of the USA.
• Become eligible to sit for the Personal
Trainer certification exam of the American Council on Exercise
(ACE).

Study
and train with the experts at the state-of-the-art facilities at
the State College Area YMCA
• Refresh your knowledge of anatomy and
kinesiology
Module
Two: Nutrition
Learn to:
• Assess
basic nutritional needs from an integrative, whole foods
perspective, including how to get essential nutrients and
balancing the body nutritionally

Suggest basic nutritional guidelines utilizing whole food
•
Design
an individualized plan to assist clients to:

transition to a healthy eating plan

meet their fitness, weight loss, wellness, and nutritional goals

reduce their stress with nutrition

shopping for healthy food choices
Module
Three: Stress Reduction
•
Study
the cutting edge research on the effects of stress and the power
of varied techniques on physical, mental and emotional health.
• Learn to design an individualized program in
stress reduction, utilizing both somatic and cognitive
techniques such as:
- Progressive, passive, applied, and behavior relaxation
training
- Visualization
- Meditation
- Conscious Breathing

Movement and stretching
- Self
Awareness
- Imagery

Cognitive behavioral approaches
Program Schedule
• Attend classes one weekend per month for one
year.
• Program is divided into three self contained
modules of varying weekends each:
• Fitness: 5 Weekends

• Classes meet from 8:30am-4:30pm.
• Modules may be taken individually.
Who Should
Apply
This advanced training program is open to
professionals in
the
areas of: health, wellness, fitness, nutrition, holistic health,
healthcare, massage, helping/counseling, education, or movement.
Applicants with no professional experience in any of these fields,
but who hold a degree in biology, anatomy and physiology or
kinesiology will also be considered.
