Financing Your Studies
Mt. Nittany offers a variety of payment options, from paying in full to paying over 15 years through a Sallie Mae loan. Read over the options below and then call us to help you navigate your way to the plan best suited to you and your situation.
Self Funding
Two Options
- Pay in full, due one month before your program starts.
- Pay in two payments, half up front (one month before the program starts) and half at about midway through your program. A flat 6% service fee is charged to the first payment. Payment in two installments applies to tuition only.
Sallie Mae Loans
These are credit-based loans which cover all your needs:
- Tuition
- Books
- Supplies
- Travel expense
- Childcare expense
- Workshops/Extra Classes
Sallie Mae Loan features:
- Low interest rates
- Interest only payments
- Take up to 10 years to repay. Other fees and restrictions apply.

- Do it yourself: Fill in the loan application on the Sallie Mae site.
- Get our help: Let Matt, our accounting coordinator, input your information online, with you available for questions, either in person or over the phone.
Notes:
- Loan applications are free and are responded to within 24–48 hours.
- You may need a co-borrower.
Subsidized Programs
Mt. Nittany is also approved for funding from the following state and federal agencies:
- Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR)
- Veteran’s Administration Benefits Contact your local agency representatives for more information.
Installment Payment Plan with Higher Education Services (HES)
HES features:
- Pay some or all of your tuition and fees in monthly installments
- No interest charges
- One-time $50 administrative fee
- Begin making payments as soon as you enroll in a program
- Finish paying by one month before you graduate
- Receive a coupon booklet and payment schedule
- Make payments by check, money order, automatic deduction, or credit card (convenience fee assessed)

So when we explained how the nationwide credit crunch was affecting our students, they were happy to jump on board to help with home equity loans.
